How to get

Karagatsia Beach on the island of Ammouliani is a popular spot for relaxation, thanks to its scenic cove sheltered from the wind. The beach is known for its clear, deepening waters and golden sand. The right side of the beach is rockier, making it a favorite among divers. Despite its beauty and convenience, the beach can get quite crowded during peak times, and inflatable structures take up a significant part of the swimming area.

Infrastructure

The beach is serviced by a beach bar where sunbeds and umbrellas are available with the purchase of drinks. The bar menu offers a variety of snacks, smoothies, and salads. The staff is polite and ensures the beach stays clean. There are restrooms and changing rooms, though no showers are available. A small parking area shaded by trees is also on-site.

For children, there's a floating inflatable park supervised by lifeguards and instructors. Young swimmers will also enjoy jumping into the water from a concrete pier.

How to get there

Karagatsia Beach is just 3 km from Ammouliani's port and is easily accessible via a paved road, which sets it apart from some of the island's more remote beaches.

Ammouliani Island, located in the Singitic Gulf between the Sithonia and Athos peninsulas, is the only inhabited island in the Halkidiki region. It can be reached from the mainland by ferry from Tripiti port, which operates several times a day. Car rentals are available in Thessaloniki and in larger villages across Halkidiki, and these can be transported to the island via a car ferry.

While bus service on the island is limited, taxis and bike rentals are available for getting around between the beaches and other key spots.
