Stratoniοn is a small village located in eastern Halkidiki, about 100 km from Thessaloniki, by the Ierissos Gulf. This area isn't developed as a tourist destination, but its beach attracts those seeking tranquility and peace.
The wide sandy beach, mixed with fine pebbles, is surrounded by hills, with Mount Athos visible in the distance. The beach is spacious but not very long, featuring clear waters and clean, brick-colored sand, which tends to stick to clothes, causing a bit of inconvenience.
There’s a small beach bar with sunbeds and umbrellas available for guests who order drinks. The surroundings are well-maintained, with plenty of greenery and shady spots for parking. A playground is set up for families with children, and there are tavernas along the coast offering meat and fish dishes. In the village, you can also find apartments for accommodation and a small port.
It rarely gets crowded here, even in the peak season. Before noon, the beach remains quiet, and the waves make it a great spot for surfing. For those looking for livelier beaches with stunning views, a trip to Nea Roda with its golden sandy shores or Ouranoupolis, with its developed infrastructure and long coastline suitable for surfing, diving, fishing, and embarking on cruises along Mount Athos, is worth considering.
Twenty kilometers to the north lies Stagira, the birthplace of Aristotle, founded in the seventh century BC between two hills by the sea. Ancient Stagira is known for its remnants of defensive walls, an acropolis, and a water supply system that provided residents with water through underground channels.
