How to get

Drenia is a small group of uninhabited islands in the northern part of Singitic Gulf, known for their pristine beauty and turquoise waters. These islands offer a chance to experience the natural charm of Greece without the crowds. As you explore, you'll find plenty of opportunities for photography, especially during the evening when the sunset transforms the sea into a canvas of vivid colors, from deep greens to rich blues. With Mount Athos shrouded in mist in the distance, the views are truly unforgettable. This hidden gem of Halkidiki is perfect for those seeking tranquility, clear waters, and stunning natural landscapes.

Drenia Beach

The main beach on Drenia features soft sand, crystal-clear waters, and rocky sections that provide a beautiful backdrop. The gentle slope into the water makes for an enjoyable swim. The beach is divided into both organized areas with sunbeds and umbrellas, and more secluded spots among the rocks where visitors can escape the crowds and relax in peace. If you're planning to explore the more rugged areas, bringing water shoes is a good idea.

Along the shoreline, you’ll find two beach bars and a restaurant. The sunbeds and umbrellas are free to use as long as you make a small purchase. The restaurant serves a selection of local dishes, including mussels, gavros, calamari, gyros, tzatziki, grilled feta, and traditional soutzoukakia. For families with children, there’s even an inflatable water park on the island, with life vests provided for safety.

Getting There

Reaching Drenia is easy, whether you rent a boat (no license required) or take one of the small boats that shuttle visitors from Ouranoupoli or Ammouliani. Boats depart every 30 minutes from Ouranoupoli, with the trip taking about 15 minutes.

Nearby Islets

The rocky islets surrounding Drenia are a draw for adventurous visitors. Renting a kayak or boat allows you to explore these small islands, stop for a swim, or simply enjoy the scenic surroundings. The calm, clear waters make this an ideal spot for snorkeling.

Close to Drenia lies another natural wonder, the island of Pena. This small, wild island is a peaceful retreat with two beaches separated by a narrow strip of land, offering clear waters and a serene atmosphere. Here, you’ll even encounter a few goats and sheep grazing beneath the sparse trees.
