How to get

Agridia is a tiny beach in the southeastern part of Sithonia, which is hidden in a bay between small cliffs that are typical for this area. It will appeal to those who come on holiday with the family and small children or who are looking for a quiet place for privacy.

Beach features

Just 10 years ago, only local people knew the way to Agridia beach in Sithonia. In the evenings, they liked to relax on the tops of the cliffs, enjoying olives and tangerine sunset over Mount Athos, which, by the way, is separated from Sithonia by a gulf. Perhaps it was nature and the inexpressible silence of Greek beaches that attracted the first travelers here. Having found out about this small cozy bay, they started at once coming here with their families and children. And this is not surprising.

Due to the rocks, the beach is well protected from waves and strong winds. That is why neither umbrellas nor children's toys will fly into the water, even if the sea is stormy. And the shallow and crystal-clear water, which has the colour of the most expensive topaz, allures children. They are ready to study the sea world here all day and to build mazes and castles on the fine white sand that does not stick to the body.

Agridia beach in Halkidiki is surrounded by flat cliffs on all sides. They are perfect for diving, sunbathing and watching the surrounding nature. The entrance to the sea is gentle. However, you will have to walk about 7-10 minutes along a smooth earth-road from the highway to the bay itself. You can also take the same route by car, as the parking lot is located directly on the beach.

Infrastructure

You cannot call this beach neither wild nor beloved by travelers. The surrounding rocks make it look like Scandinavian fiords, which not everyone dares to approach. For this reason the beach is most often visited by those people who had been to Agridia before, and who like a peaceful holiday with a Greek flavour. And with a small number of facilities as well.

On the shore, you will see the sun loungers and umbrellas that are rustling with dry palm leaves in the wind. Despite the fact that the beach is very tiny, there is still an area for those who like to relax on the sand or on a towel. Toilets are located a few metres from the recreation area. But there are no shower stalls on Agridia. Even the number of the trees is very small, which is quite unusual for local bays.

But there are cafes that offer not only coffee, cocktails and light snacks, but also hearty dishes based on Greek recipes. Most portions are so large that they can be ordered for two at once. And if it is difficult to choose from the positions in the menu, it would be great to taste dishes with seafood, especially with shrimp. Children will also enjoy zucchini meatballs, ice cream and fresh juices. And the main attraction is not even this, but the surrounding nature. Just imagine that you will have a lunch with a stunning view of the beach, accompanied by the cries of gulls and the noise of the water.

And after having a snack, you can go to the shade. You can use one of several awnings with chairs and tables made of pallets, as well as hammocks. It is convenient to read a book, play board games or listen to music here. Or you can take a ball and play beach volleyball. For this purpose, there is a grid at Agridia.

The beach is also great for snorkeling. By the way, children will also like it. Scuba diving is unlikely to work here, which cannot be said about swimming with a snorkel mask.

Location

The beach is located 4 km from the village of Sarti and 5 km from the turn to the village of Sykia.

Agridia beach is the first one in the outskirts of Sykia on the northern (or right) side. After driving 3 km along the main road, you will see a turn to the bay. Another 1.5 km along a earth-road, and the turquoise sheet of the bay will appear on the horizon.

The easiest way to get here is by car, which can go softer on the ground, where there are small holes in some places that you can come across. Besides the car, a scooter, motorcycle or bicycle are also suitable for traveling.

Tips

  • If you are going to the beach on foot, choose comfortable shoes, otherwise light sandals can be accidentally damaged on an earth-road.
  • Since it is windless here and there is quite little shade, there is a risk of burning quickly in the sun. Be sure to bring your sunglasses and a sun cream.
