Polychrono is a popular resort located on the northern coast of the Kassandra Peninsula in Halkidiki. Surrounded by pine and olive groves, it attracts tourists with its mild Mediterranean climate. Naturally, most people come here for the beach recreation.
The main attraction of Polychrono is its beach, which stretches for almost 7 kilometers. The sandy shore with crystal-clear turquoise waters is awarded the "Blue Flag" every year for its high water quality and environmental cleanliness. The beach is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, available to those who purchase drinks at the nearby bars. Despite the developed infrastructure, there are no public toilets or showers, and parking is limited.
The right part of the beach is rocky, with a steep drop and sea urchins, making it less popular. The left side is sandy and shallower, attracting more visitors, especially families with children. Some areas are covered with pebbles, and during the high season, the beach can get crowded, limiting comfort. However, the length of the beach always allows for finding a spot for oneself.
Polychrono has warm summers and mild winters with minimal rainfall. Average summer temperatures range from 23°C to 38°C, while winter temperatures range from 3.5°C to 19°C. The sea breeze provides a cooling effect on hot days, and the abundance of sunlight makes the resort popular with tourists.
Three kilometers from the village, inland on the peninsula, lies Lake Mavrobara—a unique natural site. This wetland is home to a rare species of turtle and attracts nature lovers.
Polychrono boasts well-developed infrastructure. The resort's waterfront is full of tavernas, beach bars, hotels, and a souvenir shop. The village offers excellent restaurants and hosts discos.
In addition to its beaches, Polychrono provides opportunities to explore the region's cultural heritage. The village is home to the Folk Museum, which showcases the rural and family life of the first inhabitants. Visitors can see a loom, agricultural tools, beekeeping and carpentry instruments, as well as traditional costumes. The museum displays photographs, historical documents, maps, and other exhibits that illustrate the village's past.
