Situated on the Halkidiki peninsula between Pefkohori and Khruso bay, the Glarokavos port lake is one of the most beautiful spots in Kassandra.

While it’s not suitable for swimming, the lake does offer stunning panoramas, with especially alluring views at sunrise and sunset. The salt lake is a natural basin filled with crystal-clear water, and it’s a popular spot for local fishermen to moor their boats. So, why not take in the scenery and take some truly memorable photos?

Glarokavos beach

Situated on the outskirts of Glarokavos lies a vast beach, with trees as its border. This beach is blanketed with sand and pebbles, and its waters are shallow, making it ideal for a peaceful vacation. Even at peak times, there are few visitors due to the remote location of Glarokavos, which can only be accessed by car. The beach is only known by a few, making it a quiet and serene destination.

Glarokavos is a long beach, offering plenty of space for visitors to spread out their towels and enjoy the sun and sand. There are several beach bars where you can purchase drinks, snacks, and even use a sun lounger for free! Some of these beach bars offer extra amenities like showers, changing rooms, wi-fi, and recreation areas. Plus, if you’re looking for a party spot, there’s the Umbrella beach bar near by, which frequently hosts events with guest djs and other entertainment.

Things to do around

Diving enthusiasts will find paradise in Glarokavos lake, with many apartments and a dive center offering supervised diving, night dives and daily tours to the most stunning spots. The area is also home to the historic Zoodohu church and the picturesque pigis, adding to the beauty of the area.

Glarokavos is ideally situated, just 4 km from the bustling holiday resort of Pefkohori. It boasts a host of shops and other amenities, as well as a family-friendly amusement park. A mere 5 km away lies the stunning sandy beach of Hruso, from which boat trips to the coast of Sithonia start daily. For those looking for a more peaceful setting, Xenia Golden Beach, with its fine sand and shallow waters, is situated between Hruso and Glarokavos and is an ideal spot for families with young children.

Glarokavos beach and its lake are a 114 km drive from Thessaloniki and 101 km from the Macedonia international airport. It is best to reach the destination by car, as there is a convenient exit opposite the yacht parking, and adequate parking close to the beach.

Alternatively, you can take a bus from the Halkidiki bus station. However, you will need to make the rest of the journey on foot, as the bus stop is located at the top of a hill.
