How to get

The peninsula of Sithonia represents kilometres of the cleanest beaches, which are surrounded by lush forests. They all are alike for the beauty of the sceneries, but the vacationers have a favourite one among them — the coast of Sarti. In summer, this beach appears to be the most visited place in Sithonia.

The beach features

The Sarti beach in Sithonia is the longest one on the second “finger” of Halkidiki. It stretches for 3 kilometres and everyone will find a place on this wide coast. You can use sun loungers — there is a great number of them here, or sit on wild areas with your own towel.

The beach is covered with coarse light sand. The coast is washed by the purest sea. Sarti beach in Halkidiki has got a Blue flag award for its cleanliness. The entrance to the water is smooth and the depth is small — it begins to increase only 150 metres from the shore.

Entertainment

The coast of Sarti combines everything: reasonable prices, nature beauty and perfectly developed infrastructure. That is why people like to come here together with their whole families. There are shops and supermarkets with reasonable prices nearby, where you can buy everything necessary for the beach rest. Restaurants and traditional taverns work in the city and on the coast. You can find a bar by your preference on the seaside — all of them provide a wide range of cocktails. Many bars work according to a system “cocktail + sun lounger”.

Sarti beach in Greece offers services of water sports centres for the lovers of active rest. You can do wakeboarding, go for a yacht voyage, rent a catamaran and find a lot of entertainment, which take your breath away. There is also a diving club in Sarti, where you can use the services of instructors and rent equipment. Despite the excellent infrastructure and popularity, the long beach of Sarti has some places where you can relax in almost complete silence.

The resort of Sarti

Sarti beach belongs to the same-name resort, which was a modest village at the beginning of the XX century that was founded by refugees from Asia Minor. Sarti was built on the spot of an ancient city — a member of the Athenian Union. Herodotus mentioned it in his writings. In the close vicinity of the modern village, you can see the ruins of the walls of the Ancient Sarti. But there aren’t any other significant attractions here. At the same time, the panoramas are impressive: you can take a walk to one of the hills that offer wonderful views of Mount Athos.

From Sarti a boat trip can be arranged. Programs are presented for any taste:

  • with a visit to the island of Diaporos, beaches of Vourvourou and Achlada;
  • a cruise to Athos with a visit to the island of Ammouliani;
  • a trip only to Ammouliani, with the opportunity to swim at the exotic beaches;
  • cruises in the gulf of Toroneos, between Sithonia and Kassandra;
  • romantic voyages along the coast of Sarti at the sunset.

You can easily get to the beach of Sarti by car: there is a parking nearby. For those who are going to come here by public transport, there is a way with changings from Thessaloniki. You need to take bus No.45 to the KTEL Halkidikis bus station. From there, buses run to all resorts of the Halkidiki peninsula, including Sarti.

Tips

  • On the beach of Sarti you can relax quietly even during the high season. But those who prefer to have a rest on a beach in complete silence, should come here in the first half of June and in September.
  • There are other beautiful beaches near Sarti that are worth visiting. To the right of it there is an uncrowded beach of Platanya with clean sand and a small bay of Goa with a popular beach bar. On the left side of Sarti there is an Aсhlada beach. More precisely, there are three bays at once, which are protected from winds and waves. The sea is shallow and calm here, there aren’t many tourists, and the shore is covered with clean sand.
  • For those who want to stay in Sarti for longer time there are many apartments and mini-hotels in the resort village. You will not find large hotels here.
