The ruins of the roman estate of Megali Kips, found in 1972, can be seen close to the beach. Once a luxurious villa, pottery workshops and mosaics, as well as an early christian church, these buildings had similar architectural designs from the roman period. Unfortunately, now only the foundations remain.

Simantro is situated on the north-western coast of Kassandra peninsula, at a distance of 85 km from the city of Thessaloniki.
